Getting Started

First-Time Setup

When you first open Toolbelt, you'll be guided through creating your business profile. This information will appear on all your quotes and invoices:

Business name and contact information
Logo (optional, but recommended for a professional look)
Currency and tax rate
Default payment terms
Banking details for client payments

You can update these details anytime from Settings > Business Profile.

Creating Your First Invoice

Tap the + button on the home screen
Choose Quote or Invoice
Enter your client's information
Add line items with descriptions, quantities, and prices
Review the automatically calculated totals
Preview, then share or save as PDF

Quotes vs Invoices

Quotes are estimates you send to potential clients before work begins. They show your proposed pricing and help clients make decisions.

Invoices are payment requests sent after work is completed. They include payment terms and banking details for client payments.

Save time with intelligent description suggestions. When adding line items, tap the AI icon to generate professional descriptions from simple inputs. The AI understands contractor terminology and will suggest descriptions that match your industry.

When you're on the job site and need to create an invoice quickly, use voice input. Tap the microphone icon in any text field, speak your description naturally, and the app converts your speech to text instantly. Perfect when you're wearing gloves or have dirty hands!

📱 Offline Mode

Toolbelt works anywhere, even without internet connection. Create invoices and quotes in basements, remote locations, or anywhere with poor signal. All data is stored locally on your device. Note: AI features and voice input require internet connection.

To upgrade to Pro, go to Settings > Subscription and choose your preferred billing period. Subscriptions are managed through your App Store account and will automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Troubleshooting

My logo doesn't appear on invoices

Make sure you've uploaded a logo in Settings > Business Profile. Supported formats are PNG and JPEG. If the logo still doesn't appear, try re-uploading with a smaller file size (under 2MB recommended).

Calculations seem incorrect

Double-check your tax rate in Business Profile settings. The app automatically calculates tax based on your subtotal.

Voice input isn't working

Ensure you've granted microphone permissions to Toolbelt in your device Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Voice input also requires an internet connection to process speech.

I've reached my free monthly limit

Free users can create 3 documents per month. Your quota resets on the first day of each month. To create unlimited documents, upgrade to Pro in Settings > Subscription.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription anytime through your Apple ID settings. Go to Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Toolbelt → Cancel Subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and request a refund for your Toolbelt purchase.
